We've never seen anything like this before: A blog post that analyzes responses to first contacts by keywords. Check those graphs and file them away, and you'll be that much more successful at getting responses to your online dating messages.
As you might predict (and we've been saying stuff like this for years), misspellings and bad grammar drive people away. Physical compliments don't get as many responses as commenting on other metrics. Originality bears rewards. Opting to contact offsite is a no-no (spam bots do this, that's why.) Specific interests get responses, with the number-one most popular interest being 'band' - apparently musicians are hot. Personally-directed remarks are good. Guys should apologize more. And last, don't bash people with your religion.
This is some really ground-breaking research - it's like you could make a branch of SEO-like study for finding out how to write online dating messages and responses. Call it "DSO" for Dating Site Optimization...

This is actually great news for dating sites as well as those who frequent them. It's very convenient having the spammers filtered out. And it limits the bashing (though a little dose of that is good at times.)
